Plywood LUST:

I just stumbled upon this image via desiretoinspire.net
Like suddenly realizing you have an insane crush on the awkward kid with red hair and a bad case of the sniffles who sits by himself in the corner during 5th period physics...my eyes were opened to the potential of plywood. I am breathless.

I hate Sundays

How I hate dreary Sundays. Tonight had potential to be a sequel to last weeks Plough and Stars fandango, but plans have come to a sudden halt due to forces beyond my control. I'm feeling horrifically lazy. I tried out a pinup girl makeup tutorial earlier today to keep myself busy, and I ended up looking like a stripper coming off a double shift at 7 am. So, non-success.
I happened to have this outfit all picked out and ready for tonight. Sadly enough, she'll have to wait for another time.
Dress: Jennifer Reale
Necklace: Vintage, found at Salvation Army
Shoes: Payless...$7. And they don't kill! Go figure.

Would you like to buy some cookies?...

I've been wanting to show this one off for a few whiles. Found this dress at Salvation Army last year, and couldn't quite decide whether it reminded me of vintage military or vintage girlscouts...I'm leaning toward girlscouts but still a bit on the fence.
It's a bit big for me, but works well with the tie around the waist. I love the contrast of the red and the little breast pockets, but the #1 selling point for me would be the pleated sleeves and back. Oh, also it has hand pockets...I love me a dress with pockets.
Worn with red vintage hat found at small vintage store in Bridgewater Center. Why did we ever decide to stop wearing hats like this?
Also goes well with red heels. (What doesn't?)

Fashion meets charity, a round of applause for Jane Aldridge.

Speaking of favorite blogs, the lovely Jane Aldridge, founder of the famous and fantastical seaofshoes.com, is working on a charity project for palliative care at Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jane and her mother were inspired by an interior design article in Australian Vogue featuring a sofa with canvas fabric decorated by children. Deciding that this had fund-raising potential, they picked a chair, brought it to the hospital and spent a day with the children, decorating it to their hearts content. The chair will be auctioned off at a gala, with proceeds going to the palliative care program.
This is the first time I've seen anything of this sort on a fashion blog, and it was heartwarming, refreshing and inspiring all at once. Jane Aldridge, you rock.

A love letter to Sandra Beijer: You make me want to learn Swedish.

I've been following several fashion blogs for quite some time. I've found tons of inspiration, motivation, and severe jealousy. Amongst all of these amazing blogs, there is one in particular that I have to give a loud shout-out to:
Niotillfem, by Sandra Beijer.
Her appeal doesn't start or end with who makes what she is wearing. Her blog is more of a diary, and while you're reading it, you can't help but to notice how damn stylish she is.
She eats, she drinks, she smokes. She loves with abandon...(the fact that her current boyfriend Ludde looks like Val Kilmer circa his hot days can't hurt...)
I definitely enjoy reading the blogs of wealthy American and Parisian girls, who can drop $500 on a pair of heels like it aint no thang. It makes me jealous and motivated in one swoop. But the prize of most charming goes to Sandra Beijer.
She is my most current hero.

I'd like to Report a Missing Kitteh.

Name: Albany Americade River Street Rock
Answers to: Albeeh, Albee, Albany Bean, Beanhead.
Distinguishing Features: Sad clown eyes, remarkably small feet (by feline standards.) Does not "meow", but instead communicates with a series of "MEEP!"s, and "MEEP MAOOW!" when especially content.
Enjoys: Conversation, frolicking, sleeping, partaking in my ghetto fashion shoots (pictured above)

Dear Alby Beanhead...Did you really need to run away the same week my boyfriend went to bootcamp? This is crap timing Alby, come home. There is a bowl of crunchies waiting for you.

as-classy-as fried chicken at the beach on a monday morning, in last nights party dress.

Last night I was lucky enough to catch Frank Morey and His Band at the Plough and Stars in Cambridge. (Is that not such a dreamy name for a lovely little bar?) I tried their special house drink, the Chinese Pirate. Verdict: Yummy, but I can usually find a new pair of sweet heels for $8.10.
It was wonderful to get out of the house and be with the friends, after a particularly dreary week in the land of the loveless. (Carver sans Policecop...) And I've got plenty of good writing material now after spending an actual night out.
In the morning Gwen and I decided to celebrate Hangover Awareness Day at the beach, with a truckload of KFC tortured chicken goodness. We were the very vision of class and sophistication at the seashore.

Dress: Salvation Army vintage find. Shortened by my lovely and talented Grandma.
Belt: Hot Topic
Shoes: Forever 21 (The bouncer liked them:)
