I loves me a good package. (That's what she said.)

They're heeere! God almighty, it's so fun to get packages in the mail.
Thanks to picking up a kajillion extra hours at work this month, these shoes are mine, all mine. And after a crap-tastic start to the week, UPS had spectacular timing. Granted I would have liked them for Elliot's birthday party yesterday. Where I tried fish tacos for the first time. Sounds gross, amazing in reality. Happy birthday Elliot! Thank you for teaching me the ins-and-outs of baking, and good cooking in general.
The selling point to these heels is that they are adjustable from top to bottom. Not one single part of them hurts even a fraction. And the heel is tapered like crazy in the back.
Thankyou, Forever21. You have made this week just that much more tolerable with a smashing deal.
Still on sale, for $13.99 here.
Worn with dress from American Eagle, found at TJ Maxx last winter for $8, I believe. It caught my eye because it looks like Nova Scotia tartan. I got it for New Years, but now it's suddenly too big. Grandma has a project for herself when she gets back from Canada. She's going to kill me if I ask her to alter another item of clothing.
Also, F21 necklace and red belt found at salvation army.
In other news: Room is a mess, again.

The All-American Picnic.

Yesterday we all got together at Brittany G's house for a bbq summer party,
excellent times were had. I met up with a lot of friends I hadn't seen for a while.
There were hot dogs, beer, and an over abundance of cupcakes (I made mini-ones).
And oh the things you admit in a drunken game of never-have-i-ever...

Bat For Lashes/The Other Lives

Bat For Lashes was all sorts of ridiculously amazing. First off, I'd like to establish the fact that Natasha Khan can not possibly be human like us. She was like a tiny angel on the stage barefoot, and god DAMN that voice. She's cut from a different sort of cloth, I do believe...
The opening band was also amazing. I'd never heard The Other Lives before, but Gwen had and loved them, so it was a special treat for her. I'm on a download mission with them as the target today.
I had a tough time taking any good pictures. If you hadn't noticed already, my camera is kind of crap, no flashes allowed, and she was bouncing around everywhere. Even the bass was giving my camera the blurries. (Isn't that the best feeling, the bass pounding through you at live shows?) But I do like the way this one up top came out.
Gwen and I had a painful shoe sistership going on, and Russel thought this was ridiculous. He just doesn't understand that city nights call for heels.
Russ posted a video he found on youtube of the show last night! Yesss....
If you have the chance to see her live, doooo iiittttt.....

Work and the Real Boyfriend Jeans

"Are you wearing mens pants?"
Why, yes I am Donovin.
These are my boyfriend jeans. Real boyfriend jeans, in fact. Police cop gave them to me, as they were too small for him. I find this shocking, because they are big on me, and he's definitely the lanky one. I guess it's a matter of scale. I love them quite intensely.
Today I got to make peanut butter brownie cupcakes. I'd tell you the recipe, but I might be shot.
Also had Elliot's french onion soup and a Jackie Salad for lunch: Spring mix, diced red onion and tomatoes, chopped kalamata olives, covering a big huge pile of hummus.
Hummus has been my reason for living lately.
Now off to get ready for the Bat for Lashes show!

Making a 17 Cent Dress Look $199.99...

This weekend we got a $10 off any purchase of $10 or more coupon at JC Penney. Normally I dislike 99% of their merchandise, but I figured I'd go and take a look. Took $10 out of my tips for the day and headed off. The goal: Find fitted strapless black dress for $10 or less with coupon. I've wanted one for a while.
After a whole lot of searching things were looking bleak, but then I found this...fitted satin strapless number, already on some serious clearance. It was originally priced at $50. With the markdowns and cupon combined, I got this dress and a brooch for 17 CENTS. I'm pretty sure I just broke a record. The brooch is lovely, but unfortunately I broke the pin...you can't win 'em all. What am I going to do, demand my 17 cents back? I think I can fix it.
Being made of satin it's dressy on its own, but I think it's pretty damn fine with an 80's denim jacket and biker boots too.

1: Carlos Santana heels. Target also has a pair similar to these on clearance now, but the heel is thicker and there is no zipper up the back...I fell in love with the zipper.
Brooch I made from fabric bird of paradise found at Michael's. I'm getting worn out with the whole rose thing.

2: Vintage 80's denim jacket found at Salvation Army. Boots from Target. I found these around May on clearance for $4! They are extremely comfy.

And the lesson learned from this story is, if you get one of these cupons, GO! I will also inform you that they a good selection of incredibly cute black skirts on clearance.
In other news, my room is a mess.

I'll make it worth the burn....

Policecop told me to avoid sending photos, lest he get burned. I figure at this point he has to get burned for one thing or another, and I'm not breaking the rules...I'll just print out pictures on my letters...he said it was ok to send cards...so, GO!
Even if he gets targeted, well that's what he gets for leaving me for 5 months.
I refuse to be censored through the only method of communication we have left.
I'll make every pictue worth every push-up he has to do to get it in his hands.
That's my job now.
This is all just kind of ridiculous.

Soon you will be mine...

Saw these on Cherry Blossom Girl a bit back, and for once this chick is wearing something that is not Chloe/entirely unattainable...Forever 21. Aaaand ps, by the way: they are on sale. I wouldn't have fallen in love with them based solely on the pictures on their site. Thanks for the tip, Alix.
Also, I got my first love letter FROM Fort Leonard Wood today. Not to mention my first phone call, last night :)
Specialist is doing well. He says that they have given him the nickname of "Rocket Man"...
After an all-day Lost-a-thon and one container of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia Frozen Yogurt (the love can not be stopped), it's dream time. Hopefully I will not wake up thinking I am on the island, which actually happened last week.
